Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This page lists the cookies PlaguePrimer may set, who sets them, what they do and how long they last, and how you can turn them off. How we handle the information they collect is set out in our privacy policy.

We don't use advertising cookies, and the site has no social media buttons or embedded videos that set cookies of their own.

Defaults by region

  • EEA, UK and Switzerland: analytics cookies are off until you turn them on.
  • Everywhere else: analytics cookies are on until you turn them off.

Only the strictly necessary items below are used regardless of your choice.

Strictly necessary

These keep the site secure and remember your cookie choice. The site can't work properly without them, so they can't be turned off here.

NameSet byWhat it doesHow long it lasts
cookie-consent (local storage, not a cookie)PlaguePrimerRemembers whether you turned analytics on or off. Set only once you make a choice.Until you clear your browser's site data
__cf_bmCloudflareHelps tell people from automated traffic. Set only when Cloudflare's bot protection is active.30 minutes
cf_clearanceCloudflareRecords that your browser passed a Cloudflare security check, so you aren't asked again. Set only if a check is shown.Usually 30 minutes

Analytics

These are set only when analytics is on, either by default in your region or because you turned it on.

NameSet byWhat it doesHow long it lasts
_gaGoogle AnalyticsTells one visitor's browser from another's.2 years
_ga_<ID>Google AnalyticsKeeps track of the current visit. <ID> is our analytics property ID.2 years
_clckMicrosoft ClarityKeeps a random Clarity ID for your browser on this site.1 year
_clskMicrosoft ClarityLinks the page views in one visit into a single recording.1 day

Clarity may also set cookies on Microsoft's own domains, which many browsers block as third-party cookies. Microsoft lists them as CLID (recognizes a browser across sites that use Clarity, 1 year), MUID (identifies a browser across Microsoft sites, 1 year), ANONCHK (10 minutes), MR (7 days) and SM (until you close the browser). Clarity says it does not use them for advertising.

What these tools collect and how long Google and Microsoft keep the data is explained in our privacy policy.

How to change your choice

Use the button below, or the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page, to turn analytics on or off. The change takes effect straight away.

  • Turning analytics off stops new data being collected and deletes the Google Analytics and Clarity cookies this site has already set. Cookies on Microsoft's own domains can only be removed in your browser's settings.
  • Blocking cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies for all sites or for particular ones, usually under privacy or site data. The site works normally with analytics cookies blocked.
  • Google's opt-out tool. Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every site you visit.

Changes to this policy

If we add or remove a cookie, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Questions about cookies can go to support@plagueprimer.com.
